The Advantages of Phlebotomy Certification

Currently, there are only two states that require you to have a phlebotomy certification. Phlebotomist jobs are in high demand right now and those with the necessary certification have the best shot at landing a great position. Even though the certification is not required, most employers prefer to hire applicants that are Nationally certified and have the proper training.

Basically what it comes down to is this, if you are thinking about building a career around phlebotomy then you should take the steps needed to obtain your certification. With your certification you will benefit from a number of different advantages. So what are the advantages of having a phlebotomy certification:

More Job Opportunities: As we mentioned previously, a lot of employers will not even consider hiring an applicant that has not complete their phlebotomy training and received their National certification. In fact, a lot of companies run their job advertisements looking for experienced and certified applicants only. So without that certification you immediately reduce the amount of opportunities that are available to you. Let the companies know that you are serious about this industry and take a phlebotomy training program.

Earn More Money: The average phlebotomist salary for those that are certified is considerably higher than for those that are not. Its really that simple, with more employers looking for certified technicians and less technicians being certified, their salaries come at a premium with that certification in hand.

Gain More Knowledge: I have always been a firm believer that you can never know too much. Anytime you have an opportunity to increase your knowledge in a particular subject or improve on your skills and knowledge that you already have, its a win-win situation. Seriously, you win all the way around. You earn more money, you have more job opportunities, your patients are happier because you know what you’re doing and you feel comfortable knowing what you are doing.

With the three advantages listed above there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t take a phlebotomy certification program. Once you have decided that this is the right career for you and that you are serious about making it a career, the first thing you should do is get yourself enrolled in a phlebotomy training course. Good luck in your new career!
